PFOR TOTAL JOINT REPLACEMENT

Treatment in physical therapy can address multiple impairments including loss of motion, strength deficits, pain, joint protection, patient education and even assistance with weight reduction which has been shown to improve arthritis pain.

Treatments include exercise, manual therapy techniques, joint protection instruction and bracing, as well as the use of modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, laser, heat and ice as needed.

Physical therapy is commonly used both before and after arthritis related surgeries and at times may be able to assist with postponing or preventing the need for surgical interventions.
